Ron Dibble is a man with a problem.
He has no uvula.
And though it seems a small thing, like Cyrano and his nose, Ron is debilitated by profound feelings of inadequacy brought on by this “shortcoming.”
He tries mail order remedies and psychiatry but just can’t shake the thought that the whole world sees him as a freak. How will he ever win the affections of his ideal woman when he doesn’t “measure up” as a man?
Like so many who’ve gone before, Ron finally turns to plastic surgery in hopes of gaining the self-esteem he’s longed for all his life.
How’s your uvula?
Down in the Mouth is an absurdist look at one man’s pursuit of biological equality in an ever more competitive world.
